There is a treason at the sea of skepticism... myself. I used to be a skeptic of their changing of style, but I am now a full-fledged supporter DC Talk's ministry. DC Talk is THE chameleon group of the entire C.C.M. scene, non? How many artists can succesfully progress from hip-hop to rock to pop and get more critical acclaim with each album? If you don't own any of Talk's albums, you wanna pick up "DC Talk," "Nu Thang," "Free At Last," "Jesus Freak," and of course... "Supernatural." They're all timelessly great. There's also a live compilation album- "Welcome To The Freak Show." I thought "Jesus Freak" was an epic of an album... but this struck gold with the Talk's following. This is more poppy than "Jesus Freak," but more catchy, and yet, still true to DC Talk's intentions to convey Christ thru the media of music. In the next millennium, "Supernatural" will be right next to the Newsboys' & Jars Of Clay's best efforts for the best album of the 20th century. Toby McKeehan has to be one of the most on-point producers in the industry today. And Mike & Kevin sure have the vocal potential to succeed in the "solo album" area. Highlights include the rock-tinged "It's Killing Me," the poppy "Dive," the Seal-esque "Consume Me," the secular appeal of "Godsend" (which is kin musically to "Just Between You & Me" from "Jesus Freak"), the Christian radio-embraced "Into Jesus," and the Queen-reminiscent "Red Letters." All 'n all, every song on here is good. I'm sure they've extracted ideas from quite a few secular sources, but it's so diverse that you might as well just accept it- not as being imitative, but innovative. Don't underrate the Supernatural... God knows what he's doing, and his music is doing exceptionally well in this day & age.
